Holiday Inn Express & Suites Roanoke – Civic Center by IHG

This was an ok hotel. The breakfast was very good, especially the cinnamon roll. The water pressure in the shower was nothing to write home about. The bed was not as comfortable as I was expecting for $168 for a night after taxes and fees. My back was sore in the morning. The room was very clean. The floors didn't do a great job absorbing sound so I had a good idea where the people upstairs were at any given time. The staff was friendly.

This is a great hotel in a good location that is easy to get to and close to Downtown and major shopping and conveniences. The staff is superb, check-in was fairly quick and the breakfast was outstanding. One of the best breakfasts I have had at any Holiday Inn Express. Muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, fresh coffee, juice, yogurt, milk, bread and much more. The pool was clean and the gym was very nice. Rooms were spotlessly clean, and my Gold Elite status was honored upon check-in. This is the best value in the city and well worth it.

5 Star! Clean, modern, well maintained, friendly staff. Quiet rooms. Top notch breakfast with bacon and the miraculous pancake machine. EV chargers are slow but better than nothing.

Clean, modern and spacious. It is also very evident that the well trained, friendly and engaging staff takes great pride in their work and service to the guests. My wife travels more frequently then I do and she remarked that this HIE location was every bit comparable to the more expensive brands she has stayed with when traveling. We highly recommend this location and will it will be our preferred choice when coming to Roanoke.

We had a really great stay at the Holiday Inn. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and friendly. The lobby was large, very clean, and had a nice, modern look that gave a great first impression. We were placed on the bottom floor near the side entrance, which ended up being super convenient, it made unloading the car so much easier, especially with kids. The room itself was spacious for a standard hotel room, and the bathroom was very clean. The beds were about a medium firm, which we personally loved. We all slept well and woke up feeling refreshed. One of the highlights of our stay was definitely the breakfast. There were so many options! My daughter had a blast making her own pancakes every morning, and I really appreciated that they had Chobani yogurt, a nice bonus. There were also warm cinnamon rolls, eggs, bacon, sausage, muffins, oatmeal, bread and bagels, plus fresh fruit like oranges, apples, and bananas. There were several juice options, too. And even with a busy morning crowd, there was plenty of seating. Overall, it was a great stay, clean, comfortable, and a really solid breakfast to start each day. Would definitely stay again if we're back in the area.

I do not usually write reviews of hotels, but I had an exceptionally good experience at this Holiday Inn Express & Suites so I feel compelled to write something. The breakfast was definitely the best that I have experienced at a hotel like this - pancake station, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, muffins, yogurt, etc. The hotel and room were clean and well organized, and the bed was as plush and soft as a cloud. Considering the price, I was very impressed. The location is helpful convenient, even if the surroundings are nothing special, but it's also next to a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, which I imagine would be helpful for many.

Would have given a 5 star review but when I went to check in, I was asked to provide photo ID. Because my ID had my old address on it ( a local address) I told the gentleman that I had moved over an hour away and even though I provided the address that he could not give me my room key and check me in until I had an ID with my new address on it. I was able to find my voter registration card with my current address on it although it was out of date. I was finally checked in when I showed him an email receipt from the heating an air company that had been to my address in July. Other than the headache at checkin, which wouldn't have been a problem had my confirmation email stated "no local address". The room was clean, the elevator was only accessible with a room keycard, and the front door locked at 11pm (keycard required for entry) which are nice security features. The breakfast was very good. The best part about the entire stay was the coffee in the lobby. It was hands down the best coffee I've ever had at a hotel. The machines grind the coffee beans fresh(you can see them).

We’ve stayed here a few times. It is always clean and the staff are polite and helpful. The first desk lady in day shift is always extremely nice and helpful. The only thing I would say is if you forget to put the dnd sign on the door the housekeeper will come before 9am (check out is 11am) to wake you up and ask if you are checking out. I’m sure it is on the paper or the computer system on who with be checking out and who had checked out. They are nice about it though.
